A WOMAN was flown to John Hunter Hospital suffering cuts to her head and neck injuries following a crash between a station wagon and a semitrailer north of Aberdeen yesterday.

Hunter Valley police said the crash happened about 2.20pm at Halcombe Hill when the semitrailer collided with the back of the car on the New England Highway.

The semitrailer was carrying another truck at the time of the accident. The truck's male driver was not hurt.

Three people were inside the station wagon.

A Hunter Westpac rescue helicopter spokesman said the 65-year-old woman, a passenger, suffered the most serious injuries.

The spokesman said two other people were inside the station wagon.

He said both were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The injured woman remained in John Hunter Hospital last night.

A hospital spokeswoman said she was in a stable condition.
