Sunday Market Success
Newcastle Herald
Thursday June 10, 2004
ON the third Sunday of each month, St Joseph's High School, Aberdeen, hosts the Aberdeen Markets.
Community members from the Upper Hunter area gather together on the oval of the school to raise funds for various resources and establishments.
Many families and friends of the students participate on the day and much-needed funds are raised.
The funds that St Joseph's, Aberdeen raises at the markets are being put towards air-conditioning the school's Moylan Hall and the sports shed that is currently being built. The shed will also have seating areas for the students and an undercover basketball court.
Stallholders offer wares ranging from furniture to vegetables and even home-made goods.
The market days are a great way for families to interact in a friendly environment, meet new people and the school teachers.
They also offer a chance for students and the Aberdeen community to band together and help the school.
Leo Walsh, the deputy principal of St Joseph's, Aberdeen, said: ``A little bit goes a long way, with every person doing the best they can."
