Woman Dies In Truck

A FEMALE passenger died when the semitrailer in which she was travelling crashed and caught fire on the New England Highway north of Aberdeen last night.

The southbound truck, which was carrying plate steel, struck a barrier at Holcum Hill, two kilometres north of Aberdeen, about 9.35pm.

The male driver of the truck escaped the vehicle but the woman was trapped inside the burning truck.

The driver was taken to Muswellbrook Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
