ABERDEEN'S new general practitioner has opened his doors for business, but the Rural Doctors Association warns others like him may be not so easy to find.

Dr Collins Oku-Oleng said he experienced a "steady" stream of patients at the refurbished surgery on Monday.

The doctor came to Aberdeen after a campaign by residents and businesses to replace a doctor who was withdrawn after the Scone medical practice lost one of its practitioners.

The recruitment campaign, assisted by the Rural Doctors Network, began when the doctor left in October.

Rural Doctors Association NSW president Les Woollard said Aberdeen was lucky as there was no training program for rural doctors.
