THE inaugural Seniors Country Fair, held at St Joseph's High School, Aberdeen, was such a great success that organisers have decided to make it an annual event.

"We hope you will invite us again next year," said residents of Willow Grove Village. "[It was] an event we could not miss."

Emily Cox, one of the student organisers of the day, said the inaugural event was an opportunity for members of the community to give thanks to elderly residents for what they had done for the district.

"The day was a huge success," Emily said. "It has now become an annual event to prevent isolation of the elderly citizens."

St Joseph's H.S. principal John Tobin said the long-anticipated fair was held as part of the annual nationwide Seniors Week.

The event was hosted by St Joseph's H.S., Aberdeen in conjunction with funding from Aberdeen Community Care Inc.

Lunch was provided along with activities and entertainment from talented students.

The day also provided the elderly citizens with information about other events and assistance offered by Aberdeen Community Care.
