Youths Charged Over Car Theft And Chase

TWO youths aged 15 and 16 will appear in Tamworth Children's Court today after allegedly leading police on a 20-kilometre car chase through Scone and Aberdeen yesterday.

A 21-year-old female passenger was also charged and released on bail.

Police say they detected a vehicle speeding along the New England Highway, just north of Scone, about 3.30am yesterday.

The vehicle allegedly reached speeds of up to 140 kmh as it travelled towards Aberdeen before hitting a tree. Three people then fled on foot before being caught. All three are from Tamworth and were charged in relation to stealing the car. The driver was also charged with driving offences.
